About The Event

The Rip Curl Pro Search has a unique ASP license that allows Rip Curl to relocate the event somewhere new every year.

about-event.jpg

The Search is a part of the every day for Rip Curl. The spirit of adventure runs deep through the DNA of the Rip Curl brand and in 2005 we launched the world’s only globally mobile event - the Rip Curl Pro Search.

To move the Rip Curl Pro Search from concept to reality, Rip Curl acquired the unique license from the ASP and are now allowed to relocate the event somewhere new every year.

A professional contest that will travel around the globe and take our planet’s best surfers to some of the world’s most unique waves. The contest has had an amazing run of success and has been arguably the most exciting stop of the ASP Men’s World Tour calendar in each of the past four years. Reunion Island was amazing, Mexico was madness, Chile was crazy and Bali was like a dream...

This year will see the fifth annual running of the Rip Curl Pro Search and the entire world is excited to see what this contest will deliver. How good will the waves be? What’s new on the webcast? Who will win...?

Rip Curl and the ASP have some solid plans for the ‘floating license’ in the next few years with every A-grade destination a possibility. Management also recently announced a new nine-year license agreement had been signed that will see the Rip Curl Pro Search held annually through 2018.
